So today my parents took our dog, Rex, to the vet as he hadn't been very well and last night seemed to be restless and uncomfortable. Sadly the vet said he had a massive internal infection and his arthritis was getting really bad so they had to put him to sleep. Apparently the way he was acting he could also have had altzheimers. It's already really odd without him around - I'm gonna miss chatting to him too :-(

Request! All my graphically minded friends

Is there anybody on my flist who is able to make icons and wouldn't mind making me one? I need a Star Trek Enterprise one, pref Trip/T'pol which has to say Team Archer and dreximgirl somewhere on it :-)

Kathryn Austen - ST/Pride and Prejudice

This was written for a mission over at starfleet_hq

“I really don’t have time for this” Janeway insisted for at least the third time as she was forcibly dragged down the corridor.

“Nonsense Captain. It’s very good for the stress. I honestly don’t know why you haven’t tried it before, I think almost everybody has” Neelix replied, trailing off as he thought of all of Voyagers crew, yes he was sure that everybody had tried at least one holo programme.

“Neelix I really don’t need...” Janeway began before Neelix interrupted.

“Yes yes I know but please humour us...me and just enjoy. We... I’ve picked out something that will be just perfect” Neelix said, hurriedly as he led Janeway to the sliding doors for the holodeck.

“Computer load programme Janeway 1” he shot a grin at the Captain before beating a hasty exit.

Janeway sighed, “Well I guess I’m here now” she said quietly to herself and stepped through the door.

Janeway felt her mouth fall slightly open as she looked around, the decor and attire suggested Earth around the early 1800’s. She looked down at her own altered outfit, if the empire waistline and square neckline were anything to go by, this was definitely the Jane Austen period, which Janeway happened to be a large fan of. How on Earth did Neelix know that, she thought to herself.

“Excuse me” a voice broke through her reverie, “Please allow me to introduce myself”

As she turned she smiled, “Chakotay” she said only slightly surprised, “I knew Neelix couldn’t have done this alone”

‘Chakotay’ looked confused for a moment before smiling a charming smile, “I’m afraid you may have me mistaken. My name is Darcy, may I enquire as to yours?” as he spoke he took her hand, holding her fingers as he raised the back of her hand to his lips.

Janeway silently thanked Neelix before answering, “Bennett, my name is Elizabeth Bennett”

Ok so maybe I shouldn't have joked so much...

All those jokes about piggy plague have come back to bite me in the arse - I now have it! Grrrr. Am taking the Tamiflu but have spent most of the day watching the Mentalist on and off between sleeping. When i'm not coughing, sniffing, shivering, overheating, headaching or just general crappiness feeling.

So yeah note to self in future don't take the piss so much...

Luckily mum and dad have gone away for the week so i cant give it to them. Makes it really lonely though, pretty much in quarantine in the house. I hope the Tamiflu kicks in soon :-)

I am such a proud Auntie right now!

Joshua quoted Doctor Who! He's not even 5 yet! My brother thought I was going to cry when he did it :-)

He said; "Did you see Doctor Who? The Doctor said Rose, then Rose said yes and he said I'm coming to get you"

I swear he is my favourite family member - I shall prevail in making him a geek, my brother has already admitted defeat. And Josh now wants the dvds for his birthday - yay!

Time to admit it...

Since I met Victoria Alcock a couple of weeks ago i've been on a major Bad Girls kick. I adored the show whilst it was on in 1999 onwards. Particularly the first 3 seasons. But of course now I know a lot more about fandom and I have discovered a wealth of Bad Girls fic - this has become very dangerous.

I have also discovered they did a signing back when it was airing and I am cursing not being knowledgable enough to go to it.

So yeah my internet time (at work and at home) is now being dedicated to Bad Girls fanfiction... le sigh. Did I really need an old fandom to rear its head? Apparently my brain says yes.

Random Update

Ok so it's been a while since a proper update.

Last week was spent in and around Paris where we went to Disneyland, Parc Asterix and watched Merlin Season 2 being filmed! Major squee! I got pics with all the main cast except Angel (Gwen) so was very bouncy! (pics are friends only on facebook (Lis Beasley) or if people want i can put them up here in a friends only post)

Then Saturday 20th we saw

justakiko in For the Best, which was very very cool! Then saw Gillian Anderson and Christopher Eccleston in A Dolls House which was brilliant! It's my favourite play and I was a lil worried when I saw it had been changed but it was really really good!

Then home on Sunday where I read fic and slept.

Birthday yesterday, kinda low key. Cards from a couple of friends, family and workmates. Ticket for Bad Wolf (more on that in a moment) from the parents, umbrella and bottle on rum from work and Greys Anatomy wii game from

xakliaaeryn . Present from brother to come later as they forgot and no idea about my sister.

Most excitable present was Bad Wolf - I am so excited about that! 11th/12th July and I get to meet Elisabeth Sladen and Bernard Cribbins amongst others! I just need to decide what to make them sign. Am thinking I will buy season 1 of Sarah Jane for Elisabeth and get her to sign that and my season 4 boxset along with Bernard.

Other than that work is ok, couple of things in the pipeline which will be revealed later depending on what happens. Home is ok. I am actually at home for the next couple of weekends - w00t! Cinema trips are in the future me thinks

Excitement!

Well after a pretty quiet and laid back weekend the week of busy begins :-)

Tomorrow I am off to see John Barrowman at the Royal Albert Hall! w00t! And I've got Tuesday off work! double w00t!

So I will be absent from the net until Tues evening (not that you will really be able to tell let's be honest!)
